The 6 Secrets of Fit People

You probably have a friend who looks fantastic and seems to have energy for days. And you have probably wondered, "What's her secret?" But she doesn't have just one. She has six.

Despite popular belief, fit people don't always like to work out.

Without futher ado, here are the 6 secrets fit people share:

1.  They have a just do it attitude.  Despite popular belief, fit people don't always like to work out. What they do like is the results it produces.  That is enough for them to get up early enough to workout in the morning even when they'd rather sleep in, or get themselves to the gym after work when they'd rather go home and curl up with a pizza.

2. They take baby steps.  No, they didn't pop out of the womb in shape, they can't eat whatever they want, and they can't stay fit just by sitting on the couch. They have to work at getting and staying in shape. Along the way, they celebrate milestones and don't put huge amounts of pressure on themselves to see dramatic results in a short amount of time.

3.  They look at the whole picture. Fit people know that no one thing is going to yield the results they want—such as dieting along, or just walking for an hour a day.  They understand that it is a combination of weight training, cardio activity and proper nutrition.

4.  They don't look at making healthy choices as deprivation. Fit people actually like to take good care of themselves.  That doesn't mean it's always easy for them to pass on the ice cream, but they have an easier time opting for fruit instead. They simply aren't willing to accept the extra pounds.

5.  They embrace moderation. It may seem like fit people can eat what they want when they want, but in actuality, they carefully asses each decision to splurge.  They don't justify the donut one day by saying, "Oh I haven't had one of these in so long," and  then rationalize a reuben sandwich the next day by saying the same thing. Instead, they think, "I splurged yesterday, so I'm going to get back on the bandwagon today."

6. They are consistent. Fit people know that slow and steady wins the race (or, in this case, drops the fat). They may miss a week or so here and there, but they make every effort to make fitness and healthy eating a consistent part of their lives and do not allow excuses to get in the way.
